I love movies. Well, I like movies. But there are a lot of movies I do love.

After years of having my own film blog (The Film Minion) and then writing for a local newspaper (The Troy Record), then writing for an entertainment website (Sound on Sight, now Goomba Stomp, now I don't really know), I took some time off to focus on my full time job and my family. I just didn't have the time to write on the regular basis I needed to in order to fulfill the workload I felt I should. But, I couldn't stay away. My love of film and film criticism kept pulling me back.

Enter Letterboxd (@JMGaul10), my heaven on the internet, where I can make lists, share reviews, and rate films. It's been good to me. But as much as I love posting there, reading others' reviews, and looking at top fours, I wanted to get back to a place where I could easy share and collect all of my thoughts in one place that wasn't so "algorithm-y."

So, here we are, at my refreshed movie blog, where I will share my rankings and reviews. But, as anyone who has followed me already knows, I can't just watch films the way normal people do. I need projects. I need goals. I need lists. So, many of the films I watch and review will be part of a larger structure. Whether it's catching up on Oscar blindspots (I'm obsessive), watching in scheduled themes (a series I'm just calling "The Tens"), or seasonal watchlists (Horror October is my favorite), you'll see my predilections to weird collectivism in my movie watching habits.

So, I hope you enjoy your time here. I'd love to hear about your thoughts on these films, as well as read about movies you love (or not) in the comments or even on your own website.
